Itinerary

Day 1: Brussels

Travel on Eurostar to Brussels. In evening Join this small-group food walking tour of Brussels to get a taste for the local cuisine. Your tour starts with a brief walk around the Grand’Place before you’ll stop at a private restaurant for your tasting of some of Brussels’ specialty dishes: Assiette Ardainaise (selection of smoked ham, boudin sausage, saucisse du Gaume, several cheeses and the famous steak tartare) paired with mixed salad and Belgian endive, North Sea shrimp with tomato, mussels, and beef stew or cod fish. Your tour package also includes Belgian white wine, beer and soft drinks. During the tasting hear tales from Brussels’ culinary past, and learn how the city was settled by exiled French chefs. Discover Belgian culinary traditions, learn how various food specialties are produced and find out how to prepare your own delicious Belgian recipes. Day 2Brussels

Brussels Half-Day City Tour Departing from your hotel in the morning with your guide, take a stroll to Brussels’ beautiful Grand Place and see the famous Market Square. Then, board a luxury coach and drive past the magnificent St Michael’s Cathedral, a Roman Catholic Church built in 1047. Antwerp Half-Day Trip from Brussels Spend your afternoon in Belgium’s second-largest city! Antwerp is known as the City of Rubens, named after the world-famous 17th-century painter who lived there. See the well-preserved historical character of the city and admire buildings from both past and present. On board your coach, journey to the ancient fortress of the city. Here, start your guided walking tour to the Market Square with its ancient houses and the Cathedral of Our Lady, which boasts treasures including four of Rubens’ masterpieces, such as The Raising of the Cross. Continue your tour with a lovely walk through the city center and enjoy some free time to explore on your own. Antwerp is also known as one of the world’s epicenters for diamonds. Day 4Salzburg

Enjoy your morning with hearty breakfast and in afternoon your tour starts with a panoramic tour of Salzburg which will provide you with an opportunity to see as many historical and cultural highlights as possible in the city where Mozart was born. Then, you’ll experience the breathtaking beauty of one of Austria’s most beautiful regions – the Lake District just beyond the gates of Salzburg. Your tour will commence from Mirabell Square and take you through Mozarteum, the new part of the City, then continue to Mozart’s Residence. Continue over the Staatsbrucke into the baroque Old Town with its resplendent Dome and the festival quarter. Passing the Nonnberg Abbey you will see Castle Leopoldskron, used as the von Trapp family home in the film, “Sound of Music”. The tour will then return to Mirabell Square where the lake and mountains tour will commence with a scenic view of Salzburg. You will be introduced to many scenic and historical landmarks on the way to the beautiful Lake District, such as the impressive hunting castle Fuschl, today a luxury hotel, where the Prince Archbishops spent many seasons. In St Wolfgang there is time to visit the famous winged gothic altar by Michael Pacher, and there will be a stop at the White Horse Inn for refreshments. From St Wolfgang you be able to enjoy a 25 minute boat ride (May 1 – October 26 only) to St Gilgen, where Mozart’s mother was born, on the other side of Lake Wolfgang. Passing Castle Huttenstein, you will continue along the Mondsee. The ever-changing and contrasting scenery will make this tour an unforgettable memory and is a must for every visitor to Salzburg. Day 5Salzburg

Journey through the Bavarian Alps, via the Alpenstrasse, along the King’s Lake River to the Obersalzberg. Here, the highlight of your tour awaits as you tour the 450-year-old salt mines. Wearing traditional miners’ clothes, you enter the mines and hear historic as well as legendary tales of the fascinating underground world. Using the same slides as hundreds of miners before, you descend to the grottos, the magical world beneath the surface of the earth. You end your adventure with a raft sail on the salt lake and a special train trip. The tour will both amaze and educate you into this underground world, great fun for all ages! Afterwards there will be a short visit to the town of Berchtesgaden before returning to Salzburg.
