Tours Description

The excursion to Mt. Pilatus is simply an exceptional experience – all year round. Depending on the season, however, there are various options to travel to the peak from Lucerne. The cable car and gondola from and to Kriens operate all year round, whereas the boat cruise to Alpnachstad only operates during the summer months only (May-October). The cogwheel train to the peak runs until mid-November.
There are the following roundtrip options:
Blue Round Trip (by local bus): All year round
Connection from Lucerne to Kriens and back by local bus. Journey to Pilatus-Kulm by cable car and gondola.
Golden Round Trip: Mid May – October
A relaxing cruise over the stunning Lake Lucerne takes you to Alpnachstad, from where the world’s steepest cogwheel railway ascends to Pilatus Kulm (2,132m). Descend on the other side by cable car and gondola to Kriens and return to Lucerne by local bus.
Silver Round Trip: Mid May – Mid November
Rail transfer from Lucerne to Alpnachstad and from there cogwheel railways to the peak. Cable car down the other side to Kriens and return to Lucerne by local bus.
The summit holds plenty of activities for all – child-friendly play areas, relaxing walks, challenging activities and restaurants. During the winter months, skiing, winter walking and sledging are available from the peak.
Footplate Ride: Sit right up front when the world‘s steepest cogwheel railway winds its way up the Pilatus through the impressive mountain scenery. In the cab, the railcar driver will tell you lots of interesting facts about the history of the cogwheel railway and the Pilatus area. A special experience – not only for railway enthusiasts! The offer includes:
• Ascent and descent from Alpnachstad • A ride in the driver‘s cab • Personal assistance and «instruction» by the railcar driver • Award with a personal certificate • Anniversary book «Pilatus Railway Experience» • Pilatus cap
