A one hour train journey from Interlaken Ost, with views over Lake Brienz, will take you to the wood carving village of Brienz, where you will catch the Brienz Rothorn Railway to the summit. The Brienz Rothorn railway is the only steam-powered cogwheel railway system with three generations of steam locomotives.
On Wednesday the trip offers “Steamed sausages” directly from the locomotive. The scenic trip through wonderful woodland, past flowering fields and across high rock faces is an unforgettable travel experience which never fails to fascinate. From the summit at 2,350m the views are breathtaking and sweep over 693 mountain peaks.
The excursion from Interlaken offers various options and combinations for the journey to Brienz. Return rail transfers, return boat transfers or alternatively outward journey on the boat and return by rail (or v.v.).
Reduced fares for Swiss Travel Passes are only applicable on validated days of travel. (No half fare option included as in the Swiss Cards).
